WHO WE ARE The Organization: The New Mexico Alliance for Hispanic Education is one of New Mexico's largest Hispanic scholarship fundraising organizations that annually raises funds for outstanding Hispanic American undergraduate and graduate students attending colleges and universities in New Mexico. These students are selected through application and regional review procedures of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. The Vision: The New Mexico Alliance for Hispanic Education exists for one simple reason: to give New Mexico's Hispanic students the opportunity to seek a higher level of education. The Mission: To increase the rate of Hispanic students earning college degrees in New Mexico. For the 1999-2000 academic year, The University of New Mexico awarded a total of 4143 degrees with 941 going to Hispanic students. New Mexico State University awarded a total of 2586 degrees with 806 going to Hispanic students. The Alliance hopes to expand significantly the number of Hispanic students receiving degrees by the year 2005. The Commitment: To maintain a position of leadership in New Mexico by increasing corporate and individual support to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. |
